Spring Things Are Happening!

New Pool & Sports Court Security

To address concerns from residents that the pool has increasingly been used by non-residents, the board has implemented a new security protocol. Each household will receive a key fob to access the pool and sports courts.

How does it work?

  • Locking handles have been installed at pool and court entrances.

  • Homeowners will be issued one fob (1 per household)

  • The fobs are easy to use and work like a hotel key.

How do I get my fob?

  • Fobs will be available at upcoming community events:

    • May HOA Board Meeting: May 20, – 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm (at the close of the meeting)

    • Spring Clean Up:  May 18, 9:00 am - 11:00 am

    • Pre-pool Opening: May 23, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm (weather permitting)

    • Say Hello to Summer BBQ: June 9, 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

    • Or by appointment with the SCCE Administrative Assistant

      • Please text Misty at 605-210-0405 for availability

Important things to keep in mind:

  • The security system is synced with pool hours from 9:00 am - 9:00 pm

  • Adult-only lap swim is from 9:00 am - 10:00 am

PLEASE be sure to gather ALL your belongings before the pool closes. Items left poolside after closing will not be accessible until the pool opens the following morning.

  • Guests must be accompanied by a resident. Please ask non-SCCE residents to leave if not accompanied by a resident.

For more information see the pool rules.

Spring Clean Up: Saturday, May 18, 2024

Grab your gloves, drills, paintbrushes, rakes, and buckets, and bring the whole gang to the commons area to help with the Annual SCCE Spring Clean-Up Day!

Meet us at 9:00 a.m. at the picnic shelter for project assignments.

There are always plenty of projects–– and we’d love to see some new faces. Just an hour or two of your time will go a long way!

Crews are needed to help repair normal wear and tear and weather-damaged fences and buildings and to tidy up the grounds in general in anticipation of the summer season. This community effort keeps our development looking clean and fresh and is a great way to get to know your neighbors.

If you’d like to review the project list or discuss specifics in more detail, reach out to a board or committee member. They’ll make sure you get first dibs on the community beautification projects we have planned for this year.

We can’t wait to see you there… overhauls, work belts, and all!

Don’t miss your opportunity to connect with your SCCE friends and neighbors!

Covenants & Campers: Update

At the April HOA meeting, a petition to amend the covenants related to Article II: Section 1: Recreational Vehicles, Equipment & Machinery was presented to the Board along with the required number of homeowner signatures to amend the covenants. The signatures have been verified by the Board.

There was overwhelming support to allow flexibility in where campers can be parked on lots and to update the current requirement to park campers “inside an enclosed garage or behind a dwelling.”

The covenant is under review to ensure that the language used in the amendment accommodates additional input from homeowners who attended the April meeting.

Additional details can be found on the covenants page. More information will be available at the May HOA meeting (May 20).

Covenants, By-laws, Rules & Guidelines: What’s the Difference?

Covenants Short Answer: The covenants detail the rights and expectations of the homeowners and the obligations of the homeowner’s association (HOA) to implement them. They describe the requirements and limitations of what you can do with your property. Making changes requires a vote. For more go to the covenants page.

By-Laws Short Answer: By-laws establish the structure of day-to-day governance of the HOA. The covenants cover the “what” of the HOA and the by-laws describe the “how.” Making changes requires a vote. For more go to the by-laws page.

Rules & Guidelines Short Answer: Rules and guidelines are a catch-all for the things not covered in the covenants or by-laws. These are often the rules that might need revising over time due to changes in the community. Typically, rules and guidelines can be changed by an HOA board vote with review by community members. For more go to the committees page.

Moving In or Out of the Neighborhood?

If you are moving out of the neighborhood, PLEASE contact SCCE Bookkeeping and provide your closing date so we can verify your final water and HOA bill.

If you are moving into the neighborhood, WELCOME! Be sure to reach out to SCCE Bookkeeping and provide your contact information so we can be sure to get you a welcome packet and get your water and HOA account set up.

Reach Out

It just takes a minute to call or email a board or committee member with your community-related thoughts, suggestions, or ideas.

In order for feedback to be representative of the whole community, we need you to reach out, get involved and stay in touch. We’re always looking for volunteers and input to help make SCCE even better!

And, if you are looking for an easy way to keep up on neighborhood news and connect with your neighbors, check out the SCCE Facebook group and the SCCE NextDoor.com neighborhood. Both platforms are free and private.
